Match Play League

Each Thursday beginning May 25th through August 31st. *no league on July 13th (bye week)

$250 / Team

9 Hole Match Play – Shotgun 5:15PM

Details:

The entry fee for the Riverside Twilight League is $250/team. All entry fees will be paid back out in the form of Riverside Golf Shop credits to the appropriate teams after the conclusion of the playoffs. Greens fees will be $18 per week and cart fees will be $12/rider.

 

Riverside Twilight League will shotgun start at 5:15pm on Thursdays. Check in will begin at 4:00pm each week outside of the front doors to the Riverside Clubhouse where weekly information, honeypot entries and payouts, and scorecard pick up will be located. There will be a refreshment cart out every week dedicated to whichever side of the golf course the league is playing and the Riverside Bistro/Rooftop Bar will be open after play.

 

Handicapping:

GHIN Handicaps will no longer be required to play in the league. Players with active GHIN Handicaps will start the season with their appropriate course handicap on either 9. Handicaps will be adjusted each week based on previous scores. Each player will have separate front 9 and back 9 handicaps. Players without a GHIN Handicap will be given a league handicap by Riverside Staff. All handicaps, GHIN or not, will be changed manually by Riverside Staff from week to week. Player’s “League Handicaps” will be separate from Player’s GHIN Handicaps.

 

Scoring:

The scoring for weekly matches will be the same as in years past. Each match will be worth 5 points. The winner of the match will receive 5 points for winning, if the match is tied each player will receive 2 ½ points. There are also 2 bonus points available for any player shooting net par or better and these points are available win or lose. Possible match scores are: 7-0, 7-2, 5-0, 5-2, 2 ½-2 ½, 4 ½-2 ½, and finally 4 ½-4 ½. The points from each match will be added together to make a team score, the team with the most points wins the match.

 

 

Weekly Matchups:

Each week it is required that the appropriate players from each team play matches against each other. The lowest handicap player must play the lowest handicap player from the other team and so on. Each match will have 4 scorecards. All matches will be a Net Match Play format. Example, Joe is a 3 and he’s playing Walter who is a 7, Walter would get 1 stroke on the 4 lowest handicap holes on the scorecard. All scorecards must be turned in immediately following play to the scorecard box located in the Riverside Golf Shop. Any missing or incomplete scorecards will not be scored, there are no exceptions.

 

Honeypots:

The Honeypot formats will remain the same. Low Net, Low Gross, and KP’s will still be $3 each and Long Drive will be $2. These pots are optional each week. Each KP or Long Drive won will enter the player into the shootouts after play on the last week of the regular season. These competitions will be paid out the following week in cash.

 

 

Conceding Putts/Holes:

Since this league consists of strictly Match Play, conceding putts and or holes is allowed. This can be difficult to understand or do properly. When conceding a putt or hole it is important to be aware of what this can do to a players score, bonus points, team score, and handicap. Putts inside 2 feet, your opponents putt from 5 feet for net triple bogey when you’re in for net par, are 2 good examples of a good time for a concession. Conceding putts if done properly should not affect the outcome of a match but can definitely improve the pace of play in the league.

 

 

Playoffs:

After the conclusion of regular season matches, the top 8 teams with THE MOST POINTS will qualify for the single elimination playoffs. The top 4 teams will receive winnings in the form of Riverside Golf Shop Credits.

All scorecards must be turned in immediately following play to the scorecard box located in the Riverside Golf Shop. Any missing or incomplete scorecards will not be scored, there are no exceptions.

 

Honeypots:

The Honeypot formats will remain the same. Low Net, Low Gross, and KP’s will still be $3 each and Long Drive will be $2. These pots are optional each week. Each KP or Long Drive won will enter the player into the shootouts after play on the last week of the regular season. These competitions will be paid out the following week in cash.

 

 

Conceding Putts/Holes:

Since this league consists of strictly Match Play, conceding putts and or holes is allowed. This can be difficult to understand or do properly. When conceding a putt or hole it is important to be aware of what this can do to a players score, bonus points, team score, and handicap. Putts inside 2 feet, your opponents putt from 5 feet for net triple bogey when you’re in for net par, are 2 good examples of a good time for a concession. Conceding putts if done properly should not affect the outcome of a match but can definitely improve the pace of play in the league.

 

 

Playoffs:

After the conclusion of regular season matches, the top 8 teams with THE MOST POINTS will qualify for the single elimination playoffs. The top 4 teams will receive winnings in the form of Riverside Golf Shop Credits.

Each Thursday beginning May 25th through August 31st. *no league on July 13th (bye week)

$250 / Team

9 Hole Match Play – Shotgun 5:15PM

Details:

The entry fee for the Riverside Twilight League is $250/team. All entry fees will be paid back out in the form of Riverside Golf Shop credits to the appropriate teams after the conclusion of the playoffs. Greens fees will be $18 per week and cart fees will be $12/rider.

 

Riverside Twilight League will shotgun start at 5:15pm on Thursdays. Check in will begin at 4:00pm each week outside of the front doors to the Riverside Clubhouse where weekly information, honeypot entries and payouts, and scorecard pick up will be located. There will be a refreshment cart out every week dedicated to whichever side of the golf course the league is playing and the Riverside Bistro/Rooftop Bar will be open after play.

 

Handicapping:

GHIN Handicaps will no longer be required to play in the league. Players with active GHIN Handicaps will start the season with their appropriate course handicap on either 9. Handicaps will be adjusted each week based on previous scores. Each player will have separate front 9 and back 9 handicaps. Players without a GHIN Handicap will be given a league handicap by Riverside Staff. All handicaps, GHIN or not, will be changed manually by Riverside Staff from week to week. Player’s “League Handicaps” will be separate from Player’s GHIN Handicaps.

 

Scoring:

The scoring for weekly matches will be the same as in years past. Each match will be worth 5 points. The winner of the match will receive 5 points for winning, if the match is tied each player will receive 2 ½ points. There are also 2 bonus points available for any player shooting net par or better and these points are available win or lose. Possible match scores are: 7-0, 7-2, 5-0, 5-2, 2 ½-2 ½, 4 ½-2 ½, and finally 4 ½-4 ½. The points from each match will be added together to make a team score, the team with the most points wins the match.

 

 

Weekly Matchups:

Each week it is required that the appropriate players from each team play matches against each other. The lowest handicap player must play the lowest handicap player from the other team and so on. Each match will have 4 scorecards. All matches will be a Net Match Play format. Example, Joe is a 3 and he’s playing Walter who is a 7, Walter would get 1 stroke on the 4 lowest handicap holes on the scorecard.
